Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early chances in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
